A quick light-hearted drawing yo start things off.  My buddy Adam Murray and Jewbacca for all you Starwars fans

Hey there.  So I have FINISHED all of the rough animation for fisthead.  The animation has all turned out great and brutal.  Now I am onto the cleanup.  This is a little preview of things to come and my first fully (for the most part) inked and colored scene of my fisthead short.  I have also started freaking out because I am realizing how long clean-up takes and my social life as officially been diagnosed as "fucked" as of this week.

Otherwise, this week I am compiling a Demo reel which I most likely post next week.  I have to start applying for internships soon.

This week I wanted to give a shout out to some film makers who i have done collaborations with and show a little something from each.
Here is a small clip of animation I did for Julia Haberstick's film Minding.  This film was a great live action/animation collaboration about a young boy who tells stories to himself for reasurance.  By animating the stories he tells in an un-finished looking loose style, the animations really compliment the child's state of mind.  These are two pencil tests i did for the film.  In the film these are cut in between live footage
This shot was from a low angle following a mouse and he goes into a cheese shop.  This was difficult because I had to do the pan but also have this man (up about) bundling up a package of cheese.

This video is just of a cat hissing but it was nice to get a little acting into the animation

I did some animation on Rachel Gitlevich's film about a caveman who finds a cave full of drawings of animals that move.  Here are some pencil tests I did for that film.

I used to work in a pet store.  These are bearded dragons fighting

gecko walk cycle

Next I wanted to express my excitement for Daniel Speers' Film Infinite which I did Concept/planning art on in the begining stages and fully storyboarded.  I never really got to show any of the artwork I did for him and I thought it found be interesting to post a view of my favorite panels I did for it.  I also won't explain the panels or the story because I don't want to spoil anything. I was ultra excited to work on a Sci-Fi film and to practice the storyboarding skills I learned from Mike Manley, my (great) storyboarding teacher from last semester.

And here is the Poster I designed for the film.

I realized I haven't shown much int he way of video thus far so I figured I would start.  Here is an old Loop I did last semester that I liked.  I particularly enjoy loops because I can finish an interesting, yet fairly illustrative animation in a short amount of time (I can put more into less frames)

I wanted to post a sketch this week but honestly I haven't has much time.  So I dug up some old pictures to post for those of you interested.

My friend Steve is currently getting some Ink done on him.  The picture is something I put together for him and I found this other one I did for my friend Paul who has this tattood on his belly.

Steve's tat- I just composited some images and and did some tweaking as well as a little modifying in the drawings.  I drew some of it darker to inhance contrast. A little photoshop play.
Bear tearing apart a hunter. still makes me laugh

This is supposed to be sideways.  Its a cover for a demo cd my grind/hardore/thrash/punk band Gut Instinks did.  We are on hiatus now but if your interested- www.myspace.com/gutinstinks.  I just figured I'd post this cause I came across the illustration again when I was cleaning out a hard drive.
Anyway, thanks for reading/ checking out my weekly/semi-weekly blog.  I really appreciate the support and always appreciate feedback!
you guys are great. peace.

Okay.  So, I was going to try to post every Sunday but other work screwed me in the b-hole this weekend.  So now its 3 a.m. technically Wed. morning and I figured I should throw some stuff up.  So  finished this 3D illustration for class last week.  Its a post apocalyptic refugee stronghold from the inside.  This may be something I can use for my Senior thesis if I decide to use a certain story I have been drafting.

I have continued to plow away at my Fisthead Short and soon i hope to have a fully cleaned up shot I can post.  In the mean time, to tide over the masses here is a realistic version of Fisthead which I have drafted our for the sake of concept art as well as planning for a possible 3D modelled fisthead:
I was sketching out some ideas to maybe cross it over into the comic book realm on my free time.  Here is some action in-sequence drawings from my sketchbook
I don't really think there is a "going to far" with this character so I plan on taking advantage of being able to draw him over and over again as much as possible.

I am tired and it is late but I didn't want to get behind with this.  I am going to try to start uploading some animation and film work I've done onto a Vimeo account I havent yet created soon to mix the posts up media wise.

currently listening to Kalmah's "Twelve Gauge album, Wintersun, andddddd some winding down music- Florence and the Machine's "Heavy in your arms"

Yow how yuz doin,

So, this is my first blog post ever.  I figured I should get one of these dealies to keep up with the times.  Back in my day we had to rent a horse and buggy to transport our portfolios across mountains, through Appache arrowfall to get to animation studios  just so we could show our work.  Now we can just drop a link, give 'em a wink and get hired like that.  I intend for this thing to be a look into my process as an artist as well as a sort of portfolio for people who are curious to what I do.

First off, I am an impulsive sketcher so alot of what post will be week to week sketches although I will definitely post finished work.  Right now I am working on a short animated film about a character named Fisthead who basically is a channel through which I can exploit my desire to draw unnessesary violence and laugh histerically at it.

Here are some character sketches:

Here is a screenshot for what will hopefully be what Fisthead will look like as a film.  Basically he gets kidnapped by a pinyata with big juicy lips and all hell breaks loose.
Notice the Chinese finger trap gag.  So I have finished all the backgrounds and am currently animating the rough version and it is coming out great!  All the voices have been recorded thanks to Matt White, the talented voice of the two main characters.    I have also recorded the fisthead theme song which is an epic thrash thang with shredding guitars to inspire the oncoming brutality of fisthead's escapades.

Along with this I figured I'd upload this picture I found on my shelf when i was cleaning.  It was on my facebook but I figured what the hell, ill slap it on here
This was a product of a long car ride last year.   Every week I am going to try to upload an old thing or two along with new things to keep it lively on this thing.

Anyway, I was in a drawing slump for a long time and I finally picked up that pencil for fun again.  Here is a realistic adaptation of a character I am working out for a series called "Nam."

Here are some sketches from life I did this week.  Most of it was very fast.  I carry a sketch book almost everywhere and I always see people that I want to remember as an interesting character I could use for later.  The woman sketched a few times on the right is this woman I see on the train all of the time that looks absolutely crazy.  Half of her hair is cut short and she has these big glasses and a puffy coat ALONG with goth chain pants.  Now keep in mind this is a woman that looks in her 50s.  I imagine her to be a wiccan and she reminds me of the pure lunacy of city life and culture.  I may use her for something.  That other guy is some dude i know who was doing homework and didnt notice me drawing him.  Mad sneaky, bitches.

I'm a musican so I figured I'd include some stuff at the end here.  This weekend during my spring break I recorded this song under my independent project Shedhead.  This is a chill song inspired by triphop like Massive Attack,  Portishead, and Blonde Redhead.
